What you’ll learn

  • The history and philosophy behind kokedama and its place in bonsai and Japanese gardening traditions.

  • How to choose the right plants for kokedama, including light, water, and size considerations.

  • Proper soil mix and shaping techniques for a durable, well-draining moss ball.

  • Different methods for wrapping and securing the moss (string wrapping and netting), plus finishing touches for a polished look.

  • Ongoing care: watering, fertilizing, pruning, and troubleshooting common issues.

What’s included

  • All materials: potting mix, sheet moss, sphagnum (if used), twine, scissors, and a selection of healthy plants to choose from.

  • A step-by-step demonstration followed by guided hands-on practice.
